Zoie

Zoie is a cafe beside Scarborough Beach Pool on The Esplanade, offering a beach setting with food, coffee, desserts and views towards the coast. The business was started by Maricar and Scott, who developed a shared interest in cafes, restaurants and the way food can mark memorable occasions. They moved from Sydney to Perth after winning the tender for the cafe space attached to Scarborough Beach Pool, opening Zoie with the pool in January 2018. The name is linked to the Greek word for life, their connection with Santorini and their daughter Zoe. That background informs the venue’s playful philosophy, called neoteny, which combines curiosity, energy and wonder with the practical perspective of adulthood.

Zoie can suit several kinds of visit without pretending to be a formal restaurant. Solo visitors have the option of coffee, a meal or gelati; couples can make use of the beach location and sunset events; and families are close to Scarborough Beach Pool, with desserts and gelati adding an easy after-meal option. Groups can also consider the licensed Sunset Sessions or the venue’s events and catering offering.
