Across the road from Cottesloe Beach, Cottesloe General Store combines a café, takeaway counter, grocery shop and local merchandise store in one convenient stop. It caters to both everyday needs and beach-day appetites, with coffee, fresh food, drinks, daily supplies, gifts and Cottesloe-themed clothing and accessories. The grocery range is intended for forgotten essentials and last-minute meals, covering items such as milk, eggs, bacon, bread, breakfast cereals, pasta, ready-made sauces, laundry products and cleaning supplies.

Food is prepared with a strong focus on freshness. The store bakes on site, makes takeaway dishes to order and offers coffee using Micrology beans, as well as single-origin beans ground to order. Matcha is also available, made with ceremonial-grade matcha supplied by Zenergi Matcha. The menu covers the day from morning through evening, with fresh baked goods and bacon and egg burgers in the morning, followed by sandwiches, rolls, salads, healthy options and hot food. The hot box includes Australian staples such as pies and sausage rolls alongside Greek pastries including spanakopita, tiropita and bougatsa.

For a more substantial meal, the website highlights fish and chips, hamburgers and pizzas, while the named menu also includes cheeseburgers, fish burgers and a range of sandwiches and bagels. Sweet options include house-made Anzac and choc chip cookies, banana bread, fruit, yoghurt cups and cakes or slices. With food, coffee and drinks available throughout the day, it suits a quick solo stop, a takeaway meal after the beach or a casual visit with family and friends. The store also caters to different preferences with salads, healthy options and gluten-free and dairy-free protein bars and balls.

The venue’s local focus comes from owner Voula, who grew up in a Greek migrant family with more than 30 years in hospitality and has lived in Cottesloe for over two decades. She previously operated local businesses including Beaches Café and Eric Chamberlain before returning from retirement to establish the General Store. Her aim is a relaxed, beach-oriented atmosphere connected to the local community, with products sourced from Western Australian producers where possible. Visitors can sit under the Norfolk pines across from the store, overlooking Cottesloe Beach and the Indian Ocean, or take home a T-shirt, hoodie, hat, beach towel or bag as a reminder of the suburb.
