Why it's worth checking out

Sage Cafe is a family-owned brunch venue on Albany Highway in Victoria Park, serving an all-day menu alongside specialty coffee, hot drinks, cocktails, wine, juices and a dedicated kids’ selection. The kitchen’s offering ranges from familiar brunch plates to more substantial lunch choices, with vegetarian dishes and gluten-free options available across parts of the menu. Service runs every day from 7am to 3pm, making it suited to an early coffee, a relaxed breakfast or a later brunch in Perth’s inner south-east.

The menu has plenty for both traditional and adventurous brunch preferences. The Avocado Garden combines smashed avocado with whipped feta, cherry tomato, beetroot purée, rocket, radish, dukkha and balsamic glaze, while the Shakshuka pairs baked eggs with tomato, capsicum, feta, herbs and toast. Other standout plates include the Classic Eggs Bene, the Sage Stack’s vegetarian combination of halloumi, avocado, mushrooms, spinach, tomato, potato cake, spiced beans and eggs, and the 7 Shades of Sage, a fuller breakfast with bacon, mushrooms, potato cake, spiced beans, tomato, eggs and sourdough. For something beyond breakfast, the menu includes Ronnie’s Cheese Burger, Fried Chicken Burger, Sandy’s Pesto Linguine and Bangkok Chicken Curry.

Drinks are a significant part of the offering, with flat whites, cappuccinos, lattes, long blacks, chai, matcha, turmeric and hot chocolate joined by cocktails such as espresso martinis, mimosas, Aperol spritzes and Bloody Marys. Sage also offers freshly pressed juices and a selection of Margaret River wines. Its Bottomless Brunch is designed for celebrations and lazy weekends: guests choose a main from the brunch menu and receive two hours of free-flowing cocktails, wine, beer and more for $70 per person. Walk-ins are welcome, although the cafe recommends booking ahead for groups and special occasions; groups of 10 or more and private functions can contact the venue directly.

The cafe’s story centres on Ronald, Sabee and their daughter Aura. Ronald and Sabee came to Australia as international students in 2012, and Ronald began managing Sage Cafe in 2021 before the family took on the venue. They describe the cafe as a place built around connection, comfort and community, with each coffee, meal and interaction prepared with care. That family focus, combined with the kids’ menu and flexible all-day food, makes Sage a practical option for families, while its brunch-and-drinks format also suits catch-ups, birthdays and group occasions. Solo diners looking for coffee and a meal are catered for too, with the menu available throughout the day.

The Spot Score is our composite of five signals — two about the venue's standing with visitors and three about how complete and current this listing is. It is not a visitor rating and not a verdict on the food or the experience. The 4.4 from 833 reviews is Google's visitor rating, shown separately and never altered by us.
